We run an international volunteer program at the Children’s hospital in Brasov, Romania where we provide global volunteers to support the hospital staff by holding, feeding, changing, and most importantly loving the babies and children who are left temporarily without their parents and would otherwise be in their cribs 24 hours.
FFR provides the state children hospital in Brasov over 50,000 diapers annually to prevent the hospital staff of using rags tied by string due to a tight hospital budget, as well as clothing, and other needed toys, etc. We visit the children 6 days a week, for two shifts per day to passing out the daily need for diapers on the five floors of the hospital, and FFR has become apart of the hospital team.
80 % of the children left in the hospital are of Roma decent coming from a nearby village called Budila. We wanted to provide an opportunity of hope for these children who often live in 3rd world conditions so we started educational programs in Budila for pre-school to university aged Roma children and teens. We have 130 children enrolled in our After School Program, as well as providing housing and tutoring in Brasov city center for teens to be closer to their high school and universities, while working in various locations to gain responsibility.
Our goal for the Roma communities is to see transformation by integrating them into society, feel accepted, and make positive differences in the world today. It takes a world-wide team effort to make this happen!
